Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a US Citizen?

No; however, in compliance with federal law, all new employees are required to verify their identity and eligibility to work in the United States. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be legally permitted to work in the United States.

What would my schedule be?

Our standard work week is Monday through Friday, with weekends typically off. Crew teams start their day at 6:30 a.m., where they are dispatched to the day’s projects. Key team members and Crew Members must be able to arrive at the Moss facility by 6:30 a.m.

What would I wear?

Team members working on client sites are required to wear Moss Landscaping shirts, long pants, steel-toed work boots, and personal protective equipment. Crew members receive a company shirt on their first day and thereafter share the cost for replacements.

What does the day-to-day look like?

From hands-on outdoor work to in-office project planning, no two days are the same at Moss Landscaping. Crew members might focus on lawn care, planting, irrigation, or construction, while office roles may involve operations, client meetings, and varying levels of project coordination. Every day brings new challenges—and new opportunities to learn and grow!

Would I still have work in the winter?

Yes, our teams are full-time employees and work throughout the winter months.

When and how would I get paid?

Our payroll takes place every other Friday and is paid via direct deposit or pay cards. No bank account is required to get paid.

Do you offer health insurance?

Yes! We offer a variety of benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance. Our 401(k) plan includes a 4% company match after six months of employment. We also provide company-paid life insurance, with options for voluntary life and AD&D coverage.

Would I get paid time off (PTO)?

Yes! We offer accrued sick time, and, after one year of service, employees receive 40 hours of PTO. Additional hours of PTO increase with tenure. All team members also enjoy six paid holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Are there opportunities for promotions and advancement?

Absolutely! Several of our team members started in frontline roles and, through hard work and dedication, have grown into new opportunities and leadership positions within the company.

Do you offer remote or hybrid opportunities?

We do not offer fully remote positions. Schedules and working locations vary depending on specific roles and responsibilities.

Various Roles at Moss Landscaping

We’re always looking for energetic, motivated individuals who are passionate about landscaping. Open positions may include:

Crew Members

Crew Members create and maintain beautiful residential properties throughout the premier areas of Houston! You will use mowers, blowers, trimmers, edgers, and other equipment to accomplish the job and will work under the direction of a Crew Foreman and/or Field Supervisor to ensure that work is completed safely and to our quality standards.

Crew Foremen

Crew Foremen lead and support a team of Crew Members to ensure projects are completed safely and to company standards. This role involves hands-on training and development of your crew team, driving company vehicles to transport crew members to and from job sites, coordinating with Field Supervisors, maintaining equipment, and reporting any on-site issues.

Irrigation Technicians

Irrigation Technicians keep our Houston landscapes thriving with expert knowledge of irrigation systems. You will be responsible for reading and implementing irrigation plans, installing systems, detecting and repairing leaks, and programming or troubleshooting controllers. You’ll also collaborate with Field Supervisors and Crew Foremen, providing training and support to ensure systems are maintained and operating at their best.

Plant Care & Horticultural Technicians

Plant Care Technicians keep our residential properties healthy and beautiful by applying fertilizers and pesticides to the trees, shrubs, lawns, and soil. You will be responsible for understanding the science behind these important treatments and how to apply them properly and safely. 

Maintenance Account Manager

Maintenance Account Managers build strong client relationships while ensuring their properties remain healthy and beautiful year-round. This role involves coordinating with Field Supervisors and Crew Members, overseeing all aspects of outdoor maintenance—including lighting, tree care, and property audits—and ensuring every detail meets Moss standards. You’ll serve as the key connection between clients and our team, balancing quality service with clear communication.

Maintenance Field Supervisor

As Maintenance Field Supervisor, you’ll serve as the link between Crew Foremen and Maintenance Account Managers, ensuring every property is maintained to Moss standards. This role oversees day-to-day operations in the field, promotes safe work practices, and keeps projects on schedule while supporting crews to deliver high-quality results.

Construction Project Manager

Our Construction Project Managers oversee the build phase of landscape projects from start to finish. This role coordinates with architects, designers, subcontractors, and internal teams to keep projects organized, on schedule, and within budget. Responsibilities include reviewing plans, procuring materials, dispatching crews, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards while maintaining clear communication with clients.

Landscape Architect & Designer

The role of Landscape Architect & Designer blends creativity with technical expertise to bring a client’s vision to life. This role focuses on building strong relationships with clients, prospects, builders, architects and interior designers to ensure every project reflects Moss’s high standards of quality and design. Landscape Architects & Designers are responsible for planning and designing our design-build projects, from initial concept through completion. Responsibilities for this role include conducting site analysis, developing proposals and conceptual designs, preparing presentations and construction documents, and managing budgets and project expectations.
