GARY MOSS
President & CEO

Gary Moss is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Moss Landscaping, Inc. He is a 1984 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and has over 35 years’ experience in the landscape business. Gary is a native of Houston, where he and his wife have raised their three children. The descendant of Greek immigrants, he is very proud of his Greek heritage, and currently serves on the board of trustees for the Annunciation Orthodox School and the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He also serves on the board of trustees of the Memorial Park Conservancy, the board of the Texas chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art and the advisory board for the Houston Botanical Garden.


Joey Banner

JOEY CANAHUATI
Chief Operating Officer

Joey Canahuati is the Chief Operating Officer of Moss Landscaping, Inc., charged with responsibility for the company’s day-to-day operations. Joey began working in the landscape business shortly after graduating from Texas A&M University in 2001 with a degree in Landscape Architecture. He joined Moss Landscaping in 2002 as a designer and has held various leadership roles in the company prior to assuming his current position as Chief Operating Officer. Joey is a registered Landscape Architect in the State of Texas, and is licensed as a landscape irrigator and backflow prevention assembly tester. When he is not at work, you can find Joey spending time with his wife and three beautiful children.


JAMIE MITCHELL
Chief Financial Officer

Jamie Mitchell is our Chief Financial Officer, responsible for our accounting, administration and facilities management teams. Jamie has worked for Moss Landscaping since 2003. He received his degree in accounting from Auburn University in 1985. Jamie is happily married and the proud parent of two adult children. When he’s not at work or with his family, you can find Jamie cheering on his Auburn Tigers or traveling with his border collies for sheep training and trailing.


BRIAN LOKEY
Senior Vice PresidentConstruction

Brian Lokey joined Moss Landscaping in 2016 as a landscape designer and project manager. In this position, he worked with our clients on the design, planning and management of their landscaping projects. Now, as our Senior VP of Construction, Brian oversees and leads the Construction, Design and Build Departments to ensure every project is implemented efficiently and according to plan. A native of Springdale, Arkansas, Brian earned a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Arkansas in 2011 and has worked in the landscape business since 2012. Brian and his wife live in Montrose and are proud parents to two boys. Brian and his wife enjoy the many attractions Houston has to offer. They love the outdoors and can easily be found at a park enjoying the weather, hiking and camping through National Parks, biking through Montrose, or anywhere else adventure may take them.


MINDI MARSHALL
Director of Maintenance

While originally from Minnesota, Mindi has called Texas home for more than 25 years. She began her career in nursing before starting her own tree farm where she was a co-owner for 15 years. Now, after 19 years in the landscape industry, Mindi brings a wealth of knowledge to our firm and a passion for caring for people and their homes. She has been with Moss Landscaping since 2016 and oversees our team of Maintenance Supervisors.  She also meets with her clients often to discuss their landscape’s progress and what we can do to improve their garden further. In her spare time, Mindi enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends.


FERNANDO RAMIREZ
Construction Project Manager

As a Construction Project Manager, Fernando oversees the implementation and completion of our landscape installations. He is a graduate of the University of Houston, a licensed landscape irrigation technician and has been with the Moss Landscaping team since 2010. Fernando was previously with our Maintenance division where he managed over 50 client properties ensuring each landscape remained healthy and beautiful. He recently made a transition over to our Construction division where he can use his experience to help manage the overall installation of our landscape designs. Fernando loves to travel with his wife and spend quality time with friends and family. We are thankful to have him on our team!


WILFREDO SERRANO
Construction Project Manager

Originally from Hempstead, Long Island, Wilfredo has lived in Houston since 2006. Wilfredo has worked in the landscape industry since 2011. He is a graduate of the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management.  As a Construction Project Manager, Wilfredo schedules upcoming projects, procures materials, and communicates with our Designers throughout the entirety of each job. In his free time, Wilfredo enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and going to local breweries.


KAITLIN STEIN
Landscape Architect & Project Manager

A native Houstonian, Kaitlin graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Landscape Architecture and recently became a registered Landscape Architect. Following graduation, Kaitlin began her landscape design career in Anchorage, Alaska before returning to her home state of Texas. With several years of design-build experience in the Houston area, we are thrilled to have her on the Moss Landscaping team. As a landscape architect and project manager, she oversees every step of the landscape process, from conceptual design to installation. Customizing a client’s garden to fit their needs is what Kaitlin loves most about her position and she enjoys helping clients re-imagine their outdoor space to add comfort and versatility to their daily routine. When she’s not designing, Kaitlin loves golf, swimming and spending quality time with family and friends!


JONATHON DANIEL
Landscape Designer & Project Manager

While from Oklahoma originally, Jon has lived in Houston for 12 years.  He attended Oklahoma State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture.   As a part of Moss Landscaping’s design team, Jon works closely with our clients to design and implement master planned gardens. His responsibilities include project management, hand and digital rendering and coordination with our irrigation, drainage, and planting departments to oversee the installation of each project. When he’s not working, you can find Jon traveling – either to Oklahoma to see his family, or to Mexico to go scuba diving!   


EDWARD PESTOVIC
Landscape Designer & Project Manager

Ed is originally from Parma, Ohio but has lived in Houston since 2000. Ed has two undergraduate degrees and a Masters in Landscape Architecture. His favorite thing about Moss Landscaping is the ability to work with other creative-minded people just like himself! Ed works closely with clients and subcontractors to design and implement his plans, which includes tree service, irrigation and drainage, lighting, hardscaping and landscaping. Ed enjoys riding his bike and playing softball during his free time. When he travels he loves to explore historic properties and gardens. We are excited to have him!


CARRIE PATTAT
Enhancements & Sales Manager 

With over 25 years of experience in landscaping, Carrie brings a wealth of plant knowledge to our team. She joined Moss Landscaping in 2014 after spending 17 years at True Green where she served as a regional sales rep, marketing director and taught agronomics. At Moss, Carrie is our Enhancement Specialist, which is a term we use to describe any garden improvement that does not require a formal design plan. You can find Carrie installing everything from new seasonal color arrangements to planting rows of trees. Carrie renovated a client’s dry creek bed which corrected a drainage issue while adding new visual interest to their wooded backyard. Originally from Memphis, Carrie moved to Houston in 1981 with a background in business. Carrie is a trained wedding photographer and owned her own portrait studio for many years before finally making the transition to her true passion, gardening. Her greatest joy is building close relationships with her clients and “making things perfect and beautiful.” She has been accused by her neighbors of trimming her lawn with scissors. Great gardens require great care and we are lucky to have a talent like Carrie working so hard for our clients.


NICHOLAS JOSEPH
Landscape Sales Consultant

Originally from Rochester, New York, Nicholas lived in Dallas for 15 years before moving to Houston. As a landscape designer with over 20 years of experience, Nicholas brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our design/build team. As a Landscape Sales Consultant, Nicholas works on enhancements to properties as well as creating landscape designs. Working closely with his team and homeowners are what Nicholas appreciates most about his position. When he’s not at work, Nicholas enjoys spending time with his wife and their golden retriever, Lexi. They also enjoy anything outdoors, including (but not limited to) hunting, fishing, boating, golfing and relaxing on the beach!


JOSHUA ROBBINS
Design Associate & Estimating 

Joshua Robbins came to our team from his home state of South Carolina where he studied landscape architecture and horticulture at Clemson University. While in college, Joshua began working in commercial landscaping as well as interning for USC Design and Construction. He moved to Houston in the spring of 2015 to further his career and joined the Moss Landscaping team later that fall. As our design associate, Joshua works closely with the design team to assist with project estimating, performing site analyses, securing permits and preparing plans.  His favorite part of his job is seeing a project go from a conceptual drawing to installation and knowing that he helped create something that will be appreciated by others for years to come.  In his spare time, Joshua enjoys reading, fishing, and playing sports.  His parents now live in Austin and he is looking forward to spending more weekends in the Texas hill country. 


FRANCISCO RANGEL
Design Associate  

Originally from Tamaulipas, Mexico, Francisco has lived in Houston since 2013. He has a bachelor’s degree in Architecture & Urban Landscaping. Francisco has been in this industry since 2015. As a Design Associate, he works in AutoCAD, assists the design team in production, and designs and collaborates with the team. When Francisco is not working, he loves to spend time with his wife, sisters, and parents.


 

LOGAN DAVIS
Design Associate  

Originally from Houston, Logan lived in Florida for five years. Logan attended the University of Texas with a focus in physics. He has been working in the landscaping industry since 2009. He is a fully licensed irrigator with experience designing and overseeing the installation of commercial irrigation & drainage. As a Design Associate, Logan will be working with our team to create irrigation & drainage designs as well as assisting with estimating. When Logan is not at work, he enjoys kayaking and spending time with his pup, Angel!


 

CHARLIE FALLIS
Turf & Plant Care Manager

Originally from Arlington, Charlie has lived in Houston for 30+ years. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and has over 40 years of experience in the landscape industry. A licensed commercial applicator, Charlie has been our resident turf and plant care expert since 2015. Because landscapes are alive, they require immense care and attention to ensure each plant remains healthy and strong so that our clients’ gardens can reach their full potential. Charlie’s wealth of knowledge and commitment to quality care has made him a strong leader of the plant care department and an essential part of our team. In his off time, you can find Charlie on the golf course or spending quality time with family.


ANASTACIO “TACHO” BETANCOURT
Irrigation/Drainage Manager 

Originally from Mexico, Tacho has lived in Houston for more than 30 years. He is a licensed irrigator, certified backflow tester and has been with Moss since 1998. As our Drainage and Irrigation Manager, Tacho leads the foremen each morning to discuss and plan current projects. He also works closely with the designers during the initial phases of each project to develop accurate budgets and irrigation plans. Tacho and his wife are the proud parents to three daughters and a son. In his free time, Anastacio enjoys hunting, playing pool and watching soccer.


GERARDO GARCIA
Irrigation Service Supervisor

As our Irrigation Service Supervisor, Gerardo schedules client services, assists technicians on-site, proposes irrigation modifications and ensures our customers receive the best in irrigation maintenance and care. Known as ‘Jerry’ by clients and friends, he has been a part of the Moss Landscaping team since 2014 and a licensed irrigator since 2004. Gerardo’s passion for his role stems from his love of the outdoors and the joy he finds from maintaining strong gardens.  Our team appreciates his commitment to quality and his dedication to providing superior customer service.  In his free time, Gerardo spends time with his family, is an active member in his church and loves watching sports.


HILARY SMITH
Seasonal Color Specialist

Hilary joined Moss Landscaping in the spring of 2013 as our Seasonal Color Specialist. Her love of gardening and ability to choose complimentary colors and textures make her a great asset to our team as well as our clientele. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in forestry. During her undergraduate years, she served as a teaching assistant in the dendrology class (tree identification) and loved exploring the wild forests of the region learning about the natural history of the area. After college, she spent a semester in Baja, Mexico studying natural history with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), then attended a wilderness medical course to become a First Responder. Hilary is an ISA Certified Arborist and has worked for the City of Houston as an Urban Forester. Hilary and her husband have three beautiful children and enjoy playing sports and visiting the Houston Arboretum. Her children are very comfortable riding atop bags of soil and making room for the extra flat of flowers that always seem to be in the car.


JUNIOR RODRIGUEZ
Maintenance Supervisor 

Junior moved to Houston in 2014 from sunny California!  In college, he studied horticulture and landscape design and has worked in the garden industry since the early 2000’s.  As a maintenance supervisor, Junior is responsible for ensuring his properties are well maintained and cared for. Junior’s favorite part about his job is being a part of the team that makes our projects come to life! He jokes that he took his first steps as a child at the Tree of Life Nursery in San Juan Capistrano, California and has been in the landscape world ever since. Junior and his wife, Arianna, have three daughters (the youngest of which are twins) and they love playing soccer, riding bikes together and spending quality time with friends and family


NICOLAS RAZO
Maintenance Supervisor 

Nicolas began his career in the landscape industry in 2014 and brings a wealth of valuable experience to our team. As a maintenance supervisor, he is responsible for ensuring each of his properties are well-maintained and details of each home are managed. When he’s not at work, Nicolas enjoys spending family time with his wife and two daughters.


 

AMANDA SMITH
Accounts Payable & Receivable 

Originally from Iowa, Amanda grew up in Richmond, Texas. She has been with Moss Landscaping since 2006 and oversees our accounts receivable and payable department. Prior to joining Moss, she worked in the oil and gas industry and now has more than 30 years of accounting experience. A critical part of our financial team, Amanda enjoys that her position keeps her very busy and we are grateful that she keeps us so organized. She is the proud mother of two boys who love fishing and football. In her spare time, you can find Amanda spending time with friends, trying new recipes and listening to a lot of country music.


SUSIE TRISTAN
Client Concierge

Susie joined Moss Landscaping in the fall of 2008 and manages our customer relations. She and her husband, GySgt. Arthur Tristan Ret., have three wonderful daughters and a son who is on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps. When time permits, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren. Susie is an active member of The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and The VFW Ladies Auxiliary who proudly honor and serve our veterans and military.


JOSEPH EDWARDS
Controller

Joseph has worked with the Moss accounting team since 2014. With a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Joseph ensures that all clients’ accounts remain up-to–date, invoices are mailed in a timely manner and works closely with department heads to prepare reports and manage financial data. He and his wife have two amazing daughters. In his free time, Joseph enjoys playing softball and watching baseball, especially his favorite team, the Texas Rangers.


LEO CAMPISE
Junior Accountant

Leo is a true Houstonian who has lived here his whole life (except his college years)! Leo graduated from UT San Antonio with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. This is his first career in the Landscape industry, and he is thrilled to be here! Leo comes from a large family, and in his free time – loves spending time with them! He also likes to make music, ride bikes, and enjoy a nice drink on the weekends. We are thrilled to have him on the Moss Team!

 


DANIELA RAMIREZ
Human Resources

Daniela joined our team in 2012 as an administrative assistant and quickly impressed the company with her initiative, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Now the Director of Human Resources, Daniela is responsible for all employee relations, personnel records and ensuring Moss Landscaping stays well-staffed with the most qualified candidates. A native Houstonian, Daniela has graduated with a degree in public relations from the University of Houston with a minor in Spanish. Her favorite hobbies include DIY projects, finding new places to eat in the area, traveling with her husband and spending quality time with family, friends and her sweet dogs.
